All  programs include a visual presentation as well as an age-appropriate, hands-on, skill-building activity. All programs can be added to a tour of the TR Site, or conducted at your location.

Grades K-4

 

 

Students will engage with a visual presentation describing the link between President Theodore Roosevelt and the history of the teddy bear. A short story will also be read aloud.

Audience:  Kindergarten (40 students, maximum)

Program Length:  45-60 minutes

Students will come to understand the historical connection between President Theodore Roosevelt and the teddy bear through an engaging visual presentation.

Audience:  Grades K-4 (40 students, maximum)

Program Length:  45-60 minutes

Students will: trace the development of electricity in Western New York; learn about inventor Nikola Tesla & the use of alternating current in Buffalo, NY;  and explore the purpose & legacy of Buffalo’s 1901 Pan-American Exposition. Plus, students will examine the circumstances that led to Theodore Roosevelt’s unusual September 14th, 1901 inauguration & its far-reaching impact.

Audience:  Grade 4

Program Length:  45-60 minutes

Grade 8

Students will: define & understand the Progressive Era in the United States; identify important reformers (including Jane Addams, Booker T. Washington & W.E.B. du Bois); and understand President Theodore Roosevelt’s relationship to & impact on the Progressive Movement.

Audience:  Grade 8 (40 students, maximum)

Program Length:  45-60 minutes

Grade 11
