In collaboration with Buffalo Choral Arts Society and First Presbyterian Church, the TR Site is excited to present a one-of-a-kind program that will explore music’s role in celebrating #America250 and commemorating the 125th Anniversary of Buffalo’s Pan-Am Expo.

“MUSIC & MEMORY” will be hosted by First Presbyterian Church (One Symphony Circle, Buffalo) — one of Buffalo’s most important & majestic architectural treasures. Designed by noted architect E.B. Green, the church is noted for its Byzantine-inspired sanctuary (including stained glass windows by Tiffany), a tall central tower, and Romanesque exterior. It’s also the church where Theodore Roosevelt worshipped — with members of the Wilcox family — in the days before his 1901 inauguration.

Award-winning composer Glenn McClure will join us to unpack his newly-created choral/orchestral setting for Frances Harper’s influential 1895 poem “Songs for the People.”

The music reimagines a vision for America that the acclaimed poet shared with Theodore Roosevelt, and continues to resonate with today’s audiences.

McClure’s insights will be enhanced by vocal excerpts & stylings from the Buffalo Choral Arts Society.
